Obama represents hope not just for the US, but for all of us. Matt Frei, the BBC’s Washington correspondent said tonight ‘only US citizens can vote, but the world will be watching’. Damn right.

Thanks to Steve Gillmor and the newsgang crowd, Rob Lagesse, Karoli, Francine Hardaway, Matt Torenzio, Amy Bellinger et al for giving me (and anyone else who cares to listen) some real insight and understanding of the American political system.

As I tweeted earlier, looks like the US will make history by electing a black man as president, while the UK will be repeating history by electing an old Etonian.
